DSP_SPEEDSTER, A SIMULINK LABKIT

FOR EASY SIMULATION OF DSP, COMMUNICATION

AND INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEMS

DSP Creations Ltd is pleased to announce the release of its Simulink-based DSP development environment, DSP Speedster.  This collection of special blocks, soft instruments and supporting MATLAB utilities massively accelerates your entry into the world of block diagram-centred simulation of dynamic DSP systems. A rich library of blocks tailored for DSP terminology and practice supports you in selecting suitable components that cosily capture your processing concepts and aspirations and propels their exercising with unrivalled efficiency. Rapid proof-of-concept avenues for Instrumentation and Physical Layer Communication Systems are especially easy to pursue in this environment.

DSP Speedster  is built around The MathWorks’ DSP Blockset product, itself already a powerhouse for DSP practitioners using the Simulink environment. With more than 400 carefully-crafted extra blocks and utility functions for specialist display and processing tasks, Speedster further supercharges Simulink utilization. Users simply select, drag, drop and connect blocks which provide the “right granularity” for fast assembly of system models that deliver sophisticated functionality without sacrificing understanding and transparency for the user.

Once you encounter Speedster’s gratifying style of “Simulink sweetening”, you will be likely to make it your first port of call when scratch-padding new algorithmic ideas, perhaps augmented later by backup through MATLAB (frequently acting in close concert with Simulink operation). Your early conceptual efforts that prove appealing after a few minutes’ experimental shaping often will mature with astonishing rapidity and harden into serious testbenches that generate “production-grade” simulations.

Price and Availability

DSP_Speedster is available on PC/Unix platforms now, at a cost of £800* per license. Simply email information@dspcreations.com, to arrange payment and delivery details.

Users must have any version of MATLAB dating back as far as version 7.0.1    (Service Pack 1) along with corresponding versions of the Signal Processing Toolbox, Simulink and Signal Processing Blockset. (available from the MathWorks Inc. at mathworks.com). Slifer and Sketch-A-Filt are companion products from DSP Creations which supply still more useful functionality in the DSP_Speedster setting. Each of these tools has Simulink blocks GUI-controlled, in place, permitting the ultimate in both broad-brush arbitrary-gain filtering or meticulously-specced online filter design while Speedster models are running.
